Every year the Weston A. Price Foundation hosts an annual conference. I feel blessed to have attended 10 of them so far; most of the time exhibiting Nourishing Our Children. Captured above are Spoken Glass bottles we offered for a donation to our educational initiative one year. I chose this image to illustrate this blog post because I think the conference is a nourishing experience, and no matter what the theme, the goal is to educate us on how to nourish ourselves and our children. I wanted to share what I am excited about this years conference being held November 13 – 16, and to encourage you to join us! If you aren’t in a position to come for the entire conference, day passes are available, with or without meals.
- I think at the top of my list is the people! I love connecting with others who are passionate about real food, many of whom I only get to see at these conferences.
- It is being held in Anaheim, California, not far from where my mother lives in Newport Beach, and brothers in Los Angeles, so it will be a family reunion for me!
- Presenting at and attending the chapter leader’s meeting on Thursday, with my mom in tow this year!
- The focus this year is on the importance of traditional fats!
- The food that is served, all of which honors the dietary recommendations made by the Weston A. Price Foundation. It is such a pleasure not to have to worry about the quality of the food served at every meal! The have gluten free and daily free options as well.
- The opportunity to learn! 44 speakers will present on topics such as Child Immunization Options, Vaccines or Nutrition, Folic Acid Supplementation: Why This is Not a Good Idea, The Extraordinary Properties of Water, Continuous Kombucha (with Both Traditional and Jun Scoby), Holistic Management: Promoting the Restoration of Grasslands to Save Civilization, Redeeming Bread: How to Make Einkorn Sourdough, The Science of Kombucha, How to Have a Totally Organic Garden, Understanding Your Own Blood Test Results, The Biological Function of Saturated Fats, Death by Food Pyramid, Natural Approaches to Lyme Disease, and Movement and Sleep: Myths and Truths that Affect our Health.
- The children’s program! I have been honored to be a guest teacher in year’s past and was quite impressed with the program offered to children. This year the children will learn how to make fermented veggies, learn about the benefits of bone broth, clean water and kombucha, raw cheese and milk, and pasture raised foods with guest teachers Elaine Boland, Norm LeMoine, Hannah Crum, Sally Fallon Morell and Marcy Oliver. They will participate in making snacks such as deviled eggs garnished with bacon, nut butter on apples, kombucha, keir and fruit leathers, and popcorn cooked in coconut oil with butter and sea salt. They will also practice yoga with Kim Thompson!

- I am excited to be launching the children’s book I co-created with Mohammad Naser at the conference: The Adventures of Andrew Price! Join Andrew Price, the fictitious great-great-nephew of Dr. Weston A. Price, the dentist, as he delivers a “show and tell” to his classroom. He will recount the travels that his great-great-uncle took to Switzerland, Alaska, Canada and Africa. As the narrator, he will teach those who are reading the book about the nutritional principles that support optimal health.This is a story about an adventurous child teaching children about traditionally prepared, real foods with humor and art. Books will be available at the Nourishing Our Children booth and at adventuresofandrewprice.com.
