Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. – Margaret Mead

The Weston A. Price Foundation, from my perspective, has already changed the world. It has certainly changed my world and tens of thousands who are members of our Facebook groups and pages. This is how I eat butter now, as pictured above on my kitchen island  a few days ago. When I was a vegetarian, and at times vegan, I consumed imitation butter, generally made of soy. I was not at all well during that period of my life. I now spread grass-fed butter on bread so thick that it leaves teeth marks when I take a bite. We recommend folks enjoy a little traditionally fermented sourdough bread with their butter. Learn about why butter is better, from the Weston A. Price Foundation, who maintains the most visited alternative nutrition website online. I have become much more emotionally stable, and grounded since following the Foundation’s dietary recommendations, and I credit my liberal use of butter in part for that positive change!

The Weston A. Price Foundation is member-supported. I like to describe the Foundation as a community supported cause. Without our support, they simply can’t continue to change the world. That’s why they’ve launched a membership drive this month to encourage more of us to contribute. Nourishing Our Children, which I founded in 2005, is a project of the Weston A. Price Foundation. If you follow either of us on Facebook, or read our articles, this is the time to ensure they have the funds to continue to offer nutrition education. This is about mutuality. Please support the organization that supports you. Note that the president Sally Fallon Morell doesn’t draw a salary and neither do I. Your membership dollars pay for operational costs and projects such as the free weekly podcast series.

One of the benefits of membership is the yearly shopping guide. Sally Fallon Morell points out that although the Foundation is small and obscure, it has had an enormous influence on recent food trends. Let us take a look at the shopping guide evolution to get a sense of the Foundation’s influence in the marketplace:

Category Number of companies we found selling this item

Along those lines, Sally highlights the influence the Foundation has had on raw milk:

Take raw milk: when the Foundation set up the realmilk.com website, we could find only 37 sources in the whole U.S.  Today there are well over 2000 listed, and many more not listed there.  Raw milk consumption has grown, and raw milk has become more available, largely thanks to the efforts of the Weston A. Price Foundation—not only by helping people find raw milk through realmilk.com, but also deciphering the science to show you the health benefits and superlative safety of Nature’s perfect food.

Another way to look at it: when the Foundation was established in 1999, raw milk was available in 27 states and it is now available in 42. Let’s ensure it is available in all 50. Join us.
